The second edition covers all aspects of accident investigation, from theory to organizing, gathering, and analyzing data, through reporting, recommendations, and follow-up. Multiple investigation techniques are discussed in terms of their strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate applications. Accident theory and the accident sequence are also presented to provide a clearer understanding of how to prevent accidents.

What You'll Learn

This three-day program is designed to ensure that first responders, managers, supervisors, and other personnel receive proper training in conducting accident investigations. The training covers securing the scene, interviewing witnesses, photographing the scene, writing investigation reports, and identifying the root causes of accidents.

Who This Course Is For

This program teaches the basic step-by-step procedure for approaching the scene and performing the investigation. Participants will learn to explain what an accident/incident is, their frequency and cost. They can recognize and use the initial response to the scene. Guidelines for effective interviewing are reviewed. Participants learn to collect evidence using the four P's - People, Parts, Position and Paper, participate in a mock accident/incident investigation, and complete the appropriate information in an accident/investigation report.
